| Many Area Pharmacies Offering Hurricane Katrina Victims Medications Free of Charge |
September 2, 2005 — The Mississippi Department of Health (MDH) announces that select area pharmacies will be offering insulin and other needed medications free of charge to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Pharmacy chains participating include Wal-Mart, CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreen and Kroger.
People living in areas affected by the hurricane or those who are displaced by the hurricane can receive seven days of free medication by visiting the nearest location of any of the above participating chains.
State Health Officer Dr. Brian Amy said, "This effort continues to demonstrate the spirit of cooperation and caring for fellow Mississippians."
