Construction began March 24, 2009 on the new State Public Health Laboratory.

When completed, Mississippi's new public health laboratory facility will provide for expanded staffing and state-of-the-art support to detect infectious diseases, identify harmful environmental contaminants, and rapidly respond to biological terrorism agents.
