Mississippi Vital Records does not process credit cards. VitalChek, a private company, provides the following for Mississippi Vital Records:

• Secure ordering on-line or by phone
• Major credit card acceptance (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa)
• Express shipping option

VitalChek offers convenient ordering and delivery, but adds a fee ($7.50) to the charge for a certified copy from MSDH ($15). To avoid additional fees, you can order from MSDH by mail.

  Note that VitalChek's online internet ordering system seems to default to delivery by UPS Air, which is an extra-cost option. If you do not need this service, please make sure you change this selection during the ordering process.

Order by Phone

  Note: Changes to laws in several states across the nation during the past year have resulted in a sharp increase in birth certificate orders nationwide. This increase has adversely impacted the telephone order lines of VitalChek, our credit card processor. The current telephone hold time for a VitalChek order operator is between 20 and 30 minutes. To avoid this lengthy wait time, we recommend the use of their on-line ordering process through the internet. This process is safe and secure and these orders are processed along with the telephone orders we receive from VitalChek so there is no difference in processing time. If time is not critical, we recommend ordering through the mail directly to our office with a personal check or money order. Once received in our office, mail orders are processed just as quickly as VitalChek orders.
